Great Music
As a young man, I loved the Temptations, 4 Tops, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Creedance Clearwater Revival among others.
As I aged, I have become a fan of country music. You ask me why, here's a song by Trac Adkins

There's some stuff about country that I don't like. It's as much about Saturday night as Sunday morning. It can be as pure as a new born and it can be as sinful as the Las Vegas strip.
But here's a few examples of why I like country music.
"Arlington" by Trace Adkins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR_F5spqJ6I&mode=related&search=
"He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-ACRy04H68
"He Didn't Have to Be" by Brad Paisley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVFmHHxXCVg
"The Little Man" by Alan Jackson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Lj6PMv68Ho
"Chattahochee" by Alan Jackson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smgVLKoA1sE
"God's Gonna Cut You Down" by Johnny Cash http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1e0EQlQXoEo
That's alot of stuff. Search it out for yourself. You might find that country says alot of what you've been thinking.

Tom,
I like the traditional country music with such artists as Hank Williams Sr, The Original Carter Family, Ernest Tubb, and the like.
When they started with "Pop Goes the Country" I lost interest.
Les
I'm a big fan of Hank Sr, also. I agree about the pop sounds of country. Give me a fiddle. But I especially like the music with a story!
Alan Jackson's wife has a new book out called It's All About Him. It's about the love of her life: Jesus.
