Monday, Monday, Can't Trust That Day

Among Pastors, I am probably strange, but Mondays in the office are always important and therapeutic for me. They are especially great after a wonderful Lord's Day.

So here goes:
  • Terrific 3rd week for Avalanche Ranch. A number of regulars were gone on family vacations, but the kids invited their friends so there were more kids this week than last.
  • Saturday, the 3rd thru 5th graders had a picnic at Oscar Scherer State Park. They fished, ate and played games. Oscar Scherer is a great place to camp and see much of the way Osprey used to look.
  • Darlene Bohannon started playing the piano for us in the 8:30 AM service. She is outstanding. Pray about someone to take over leading the worship. As I told Paul Harrison, I know why he enjoyed leading the worship for all those years. Listening to you all sing the old hymns is a real joy.
  • Missionary Rick Arnold, along with his wife Elizabeth and 2 of his 4 children, Alyssalyn and Arickson, were with us in the service. They are just back from Senegal and ministering to the Soninke people. We were able to give them almost $600 for special needs they have. Continue to pray for their medical issues. They are flying back the 2nd week of August.
  • I love the enthusiasm of the kids in Avalanche Rach . They sing. They shout. They remember the verses. They put up with me calling them "ugly". It's too bad it only goes 2 more weeks.
  • Carrie and the Student Ministry made us cookies to thank the church for getting them to camp. I am grateful for the work that she is doing in our student ministry. She is a real leader!
  • Last night we didn't have church service so Sara and I spent a few hours with some friends. We grilled steaks and cooled down in their pool. I didn't want to leave.
  • This morning, I got off to a good start preparing for the next installment of of "People Worth Knowing, Lives Worth Living". I won't tell you who, but just think about this question: "If God told you to do something that made no sense and went against all your upbringing, would you obey?"
  • We had a terrific prayer walk. I always come back refreshed to look at the mission field that God has called us to. Of course, I always end up sweaty in this heat!
There was more. But what God is doing around here is wonderful in our sight. I can see people growing spiritually. We are starting to pick up new people. We will be baptizing a young woman very soon.

We may not be able to trust Mondays... but we can trust the Lord who rules Mondays!
